Broken Claire

September 20th we were up in Plymouth for one of Daddy's real estate classes.  It was a beautiful day so the kids and Mom went to a park near our hotel.  After playing for about an hour, Mom convinced Claire to go down one of the big slides.  Claire agreed as long as she could sit on Mom's lap.  At the bottom of the slide, Claire started crying but Mom couldn't understand what she had hurt.  We headed back to the hotel for naptime and when Claire woke up she wouldn't walk.  We headed to a local urgent care where they did xrays and determined that Claire had broken her tibia.  She had it splinted for the first night.

Then we came home and she got a pretty pink cast.

After 3 weeks in the cast, they advanced her to a walking boot.  What is wrong with this picture?  Maybe Gabe needs to take big brother lessons...

September Cities Trip

We went to Plymouth in September for a real estate class.  The hotel we stayed at had a really nice kids pool.

We also found a park about a mile from our hotel where we played one day after lunch.  The kids had a lot of fun...until Claire got hurt.

Impromptu Family Reunion

This weekend we visited Great Grandma Anderson in Iowa. We found out right before our visit that Mom's cousins from Colorado and Minnesota were planning a visit as well. We met up at the nursing home where Great Grandma lives and headed out for lunch. It was great to catch up with family and to finally meet the second cousins.

Daddy's Birthday

Yesterday was Daddy's birthday and we got him a digital picture frame as a gift. Mom tried all weekend to upload pictures onto a memory card for the frame with no luck. Finally, around 9:30am yesterday, Mom decided to give up and take a few pictures using the memory card in the camera. This is what we came up with.

Trying to give each other a kiss.

Gabe just resorted to blowing a kiss since Claire was a little stubborn.

Daddy got a ice cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery. Red velvet cake with strawberry ice cream and strawberries on top...yum!

Pool fun

Last Thursday, we got out the pool for the first time this summer. Our old pool had been broke by our large puppy before the kids got to swim in it so we bought a new pool that is off limits to the dog. Claire enjoyed splashing a lot.

Gabe just liked being silly.

That's what happens Gabe when you splash your sister. If you don't like water in your eyes, then maybe she doesn't either.

Gabe was even brave enough to go down the slide into the pool a few times. Maybe he is getting over his fear of water .

The day we set up the pool, there was a big storm that rolled through that evening. This is the damage we woke up to in the morning. Luckily these are the neighbors' houses and our property took no damage.

Week in Review

This past week was somewhat eventful for us. We adopted a kitten. She is getting along quite well with Koko and enjoys playing with Koko's perpetually wagging tail. She was named Zelda by the organization that rescued her and Daddy thought it was a cool name so we kept it.

We went to a parade in Pine Island. It had a few bands which are Gabe's favorite. We just found out that Gabe now likes the tuba just about as much as the drums.

Gabe got his summer haircut. He really likes it and hopefully it will keep him cooler than his normal haircut does.

Daddy bought the kids a picnic table so they can eat outside. Therefore, Claire had her first Push-Up popsicle of the year while out waiting for Gabe to eat his supper. Gabe was just being silly by putting fries in between his lips to look like a walrus.
